About the event
Please join the University Park Woman’s Club as we welcome our guest speaker, Terry Dwyer, on Monday, Feb 5. Terry Dwyer, Executive Director of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, will comment about significant trends in the field and the challenges and opportunities facing the performing arts. He will include some exciting ways that artists, companies and The Clarice are responding to changes in the post-pandemic cultural landscape, the slow return of our audiences, how that trend can be reversed, and the role of collaborations in extending the range of offerings by an arts center. Like never before, exceptional artistry and cultural engagement programs are essential to arts and communities emerging from this period stronger, more cohesive and valued.
Mr. Dwyer’s bio includes 30 years of experience in executive leadership, financial planning, fundraising and programming at major arts organizations, both regional and national. He earned a Master's degree in directing for the theater from the University of Missouri and a Master in Fine Arts from Yale.
Come ready for an informative discussion on how the performing arts are essential to our collective well-being. The program will be in- person at the University Christian Church at the corner of Adelphi and Belcrest Roads in Hyattsville. Sign-in begins at 11:30 a.m.
Members and all those interested in learning more about the University Park Woman's Club are encouraged to attend. Please RSVP via email, and we will be happy to welcome you to our next event. There is no cost to attend. Should you wish to join or support the club, annual dues are $35. Donations for The Penny Project fundraiser will be collected. We hope to see you on the first Monday each month!
