About the event
Join us for the monthly UPWC meeting at a new location for January. We will meet at the College Park Community Center in the Lakeland Room. Please join the University Park Woman’s Club as we welcome our guest speaker Courtnie Thurston.
Courtnie Thurston is the Communications Coordinator and Graphic Designer for the City of College Park. She is passionate about bridging the gap between visual storytelling and historical narratives. As a versatile professional with expertise in graphic design and African American history, she has an extensive background in creating compelling visual content that simplifies complex ideas for diverse audiences.
The story of Lakeland is the tale of a community that was established and flourished in a segregated society, developing its own institutions and traditions, including the area’s only high school for African Americans, built in 1928.
